How would you like a weekly talent show where only the brave get to sign up and perform? That’s not all! After the performances, there is a talk show segment with the judges and a special guest!
That is the idea behind the newest show in town – Thursday Night Live curated by comedians Ahmed Mire and David Macharia.
The show, which takes place on Thursdays at the Nairobi Laugh Bar is a slight deviation from what the Laugh Bar is primarily known for – stand-up comedy and is meant to give audiences a different flavor of live entertainment.
The first Thursday Night Live happened on 6th February where the special guest was rapper, media personality and corporate MC Barak Jacuzzi.
The next installment is scheduled for 20th February with media personality and self-described full-time cool kid Shaq The Yungin set to be the special guest.
How does it work? Quite simple really. Anyone who wishes to showcase their talent signs up and gets to perform in front of an audience after which they are interviewed by the judges – David Macharia and Ahmed Mire – who try to find out more about them.
After the talent showcase, follows a talk show segment featuring the judges and special guests where according to Ahmed and David, “the night takes hilarious and unexpected turns.”
It’s really just a super fun and cool evening!
Tickets to Thursday Night Live are available to purchase via the Standup Collective website.
