The Roast Of Andrew Kibe; A Recap

Media personality and self-proclaimed masculinity expert Andrew Kibe was the latest guest on the Showmax Roast Show, Hot Seat, that went down on the 15th at the Alloy Lounge in Sarit.

Given his popularity and controversies, the show was always tipped to be lit and it didn’t disappoint. That the show sold out days before was a testament to this fact.

The night started well, with warm-up performances from comedians Mungai John, Maina Murumba, and Amandeep Jagde.

Then entered the roast team led by roastmaster extraordinaire, Emmanuel Kisiangani. Kisiangani threw jab after jab at Kibe with emphasis on his short stay in Texas at the home of his friend IQ Watson where he gained popularity on YouTube.

His shortlived YouTube career, accusations of assaulting a minor and his often-controversial takes on masculinity were repeated topics throughout the night by all the five comedians on the lineup, namely Ty Ngachira, George Waweru, Maina Munene, Ruth Nyambura and Bashir Halaiki.

All the 5 brought the heat but the highlight of the night was Ruth Nyambura who didn’t pull any punches as she delivered hit after hit attracting laughs and applause breaks from the crowd.

Andrew Kibe took to the podium eventually for the roast back and surprisingly held his own even though one could tell he was holding back a little.

Emmanuel concluded the roast and a photo session followed, where comedians got a chance to interact with Kibe.

It was all in all a great night. Next up on the Hot Seat is Comedian and Media personality Eddie Butita.
