Three men walk into a bar.. only its not just a bar but it’s the first full-time comedy club in the capital of an East African Country. Their aim? To deliver a night of chuckles, belly laughs, chortles and everything in between to revelers (well, not quite) who may or may not (more likely) have had pleasant experiences on the previous day which so happened to be… Valentine’s Day? (cursed is the man or woman who invented that day)…
Anyhoo,
Firebrand comedians Bashir Halaiki, George Waweru and David Macharia will be staging a post-Valentine’s stand-up comedy showcase on 15th February at the Nairobi Laugh Bar.
The show, called Punches, Shots And Knockouts will see the three funnymen perform on the same stage once again after also sharing a podium in a Karura Comedy Club-curated showcase that took place in Voi last December.
Bashir and George have been regulars in the recently concluded Showmax celebrity roast series, The Hot Seat, while David hasn’t been without his fair of successes in recent months. His concept show, David Macharia And The People That Agreed To Do This Show has been a revelation. It has happened twice so far at the Laugh Bar in front of sold-out audiences to rave reviews. A third installment is slated for March 1st.
All three acts have also performed in Mombasa within the past month.
“..get ready for a rare treat! Three hard-hitting comedians take the stage, delivering unfiltered, no-holds-barred comedy that will leave you in stitches..” Said an Instagram caption promoting the show.
Tickets to Punches, Shots, and Knockouts are available to purchase via the Standup Collective website.
