Things took a weird turn at the roast of Eric Omondi on Tuesday when he deliberately threw water on roaster Bashir Halaiki.
The incident happened when Eric took to the podium for the roast-back segment of the newest Showmax celebrity roast show, Hot Seat.
Eric, who wasn’t too pleased with some of the jabs that Bashir had thrown his way earlier, filled a glass with water and threw the water at Bashir to the surprise of fellow panelists and audience members alike.
Bashir, visibly upset by the incident, immediately got up and squared up to Omondi but he was held back by roastmaster Emmanuel Kisiangani. Ruth Nyambura also ensured that the situation didn’t escalate any further.
“Someone should explain to @ericomondi_ what a Roast means. I roasted him so bad he poured water on me. I wanted to punch him but I don’t fight bitches.” Bashir wrote on X after the show.
It was an unnecessarily chaotic ending to an otherwise great night that saw comedians David Macharia and Amandeep Jagde make their Hot Seat debuts.
With eight episodes recorded so far, Hot Seat is expected to start airing on Showmax in 2025.
