Nelly Wangechi is scheduled to perform in Arusha, Tanzania on the 6th and 7th of December.
This will be the first international trip for the comedian who has had quite a successful year since featuring in an all-female lineup mini-festival in March where she shared the stage with female comics from all over the continent including South Africa’s Tumi Morake.
Just recently, she was the star of the night at the Showmax roast of comedian and content creator, Eddie Butita.
Given the year she’s had and the calibre of shows she has performed at, The Tanzanian trip is well deserved.
Nelly won’t be going to Arusha alone though as the founder of Punchline Comedy Club Nairobi, Eric Lu-savali will be accompanying her, and the two are expected to hit the stage on both nights.
The showcase is being put together by Punchline Tz, a comedy outfit based in Dar-Es-Salaam, in partnership with Twiga Brewery and Punchline Comedy Club Nairobi.
It is part of a wider exchange program between Punchline Nairobi and Punchline Tz which has seen several comedians from Tanzania fly out to perform in Nairobi and vice versa since 2022.
Also on the lineup will be Tanzanian heavyweights Evans Bukuku, Dogo Pepe, Ahmed Dahal, Leonardo Butindi and Tanzanian-based Nigerian, Kevin Pam.
