Big big news, innit? Legendary (for lack of a better adjective) comedian, Dave Chapelle, will be performing live in Nairobi on Wednesday the 29th of May at the Louis Leakey Auditorium, Punchline Comedy Club Nairobi has announced.
This would be a massive win not only for Punchline Comedy Club but also for the Nairobi Comedy Scene at large as Dave will be the most high-profile international comedian to have performed in Kenya.
Chapelle is regarded as one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time and was ranked 9th on Rolling Stone’s list of top 50 greatest comedians of all time in 2017.
This is the comedian’s first visit to Kenya but not Africa as he has visited several African countries before, including South Africa and most recently, Ghana.
Chapelle, who boasts several Netflix Comedy specials, won’t be the first famous black American comedian to perform in Nairobi though, as Hannibal Buress has also performed in Nairobi during a rare visit in 2019.
Tickets for the one-night-only show which were going for ksh. 7, 000, were sold out just two hours after Punchline Comedy Club announced the show on Instagram.
