Popular online political satire series, Bwana Spokesman, a creation of comedians Maina Munene and Justine Wanda is set to get a full live debut on Saturday 22nd February at the Nairobi Laugh Bar.
Those who attended Ty Ngachira’s show, Acha Niseme Initoke, at the same venue on 1st and 8th February, may have gotten a sneak preview of what to expect on the 22nd.
Bwana Spokesman Live will largely follow a similar format to the online series where Justine plays the role of a relentless journalist who on repeated occasions, ambushes an often-clueless government spokesman, played by Maina, bombarding him with questions about the unpopular actions of a government in which he serves.
The series, which many fans say paints an accurate picture of the Kenyan political landscape has been doing the rounds on X, Instagram and Tik-Tok since mid-2023 when it was created.
Bwana Spokesman Live comes against the backdrop of hugely unpopular government policies that many Kenyans feel are undoing all the good progress that had been made socially, economically, and democratically since independence.
The show will also feature Doug Mutai.
Tickets to Bwana Spokesman Live are available to purchase via the Standup Collective website.
