Bougie Refugee; A Genre-bending Show By Gaya Marina

Comedian and Singer-songwriter Gaya Marina will be doing her first one-man show on the 26th of October at the Nairobi Laugh Bar.

The show, called Bougie Refugee, a reference to her Refugee status after fleeing Russia at the onset of the Russo-Ukrainian war, will see the performer do a musical concert and a stand-up comedy routine all on the same stage in a one-of-a-kind genre-bending exploit.

This will be the first headlining gig for the Russian-Ukrainian performer coming a little more than a year since she came to Kenya from Capetown, where she had initially settled after leaving Russia, and a little less than a year since she started comedy.

The one-man show is a testament to her hard work which has seen her share the stage with various big-name performers in Nairobi, most recently opening for Adan Abdi, on both nights of his sold-out one-man show, Two Nights, One Mic.

Tickets to Bougie Refugee are retailing at Ksh. 1200 for early bird tickets, Ksh. 1500 for advance tickets and Ksh. 2000 for last-minute tickets, and can be obtained on the stand-up Collective website.
