The newest addition to Nairobi’s comedy scene, The Really Very Funny Comedy Club, is set to host its first stand-up comedy showcase on Saturday, April 12 at Under The Swahili Tree restaurant in Karen.
“Comedy comes to Karen with our first ever show!” the club announced on Instagram.
“Introducing Under The Silly Tree, a night of stand-up comedy at Under The Swahili Tree on Saturday, April 12… it’s going to be a big one!”
This marks the first foray into organizing stand-up events for the club’s founder, comedian Imogen Hooper.
“We’re doing this first event on a trial basis, and then we’ll see how it goes from there,” Imogen shared.
Imogen, who has been part of the Kenyan comedy circuit since 2022, recently returned to the scene after a long hiatus.
Under The Silly Tree will feature performances by Ruth Nyambura, Marcus Douglas, Maina Munene, and Emmanuel Kisiangani—who will also serve as the host for the evening—alongside Imogen herself.
