Comedy Culture is celebrating its first anniversary today, April 9. The comedy outfit officially launched on this day in 2024 with a sold-out showcase at the KO Kraft Room, featuring performances by Tyler Hall, Shazz Nderitu, Jack Otis, and Maina Munene.
Since its inception, Comedy Culture has become a significant force in the Kenyan comedy scene.
Through our blog comedyculture.co.ke and dedicated media team, we’ve covered and reported on hundreds of live comedy events—both local and international. Some of the standout comedians we’ve featured include Kenyan acts such as Ty Ngachira, Justine Wanda, Amandeep Jagde, Mammito Eunice, Arnold Savior, Maina Munene, and Emmanuel Kisiangani, among others. We’ve also spotlighted international talents like South Africa’s Robby Collins and Vafa Naraghi.
In December 2024, we released our inaugural “Comedy Culture’s Headliners to Watch” and “Comedians to Watch in 2025” lists, which received widespread praise from critics.
Beyond digital reporting, Comedy Culture has produced and hosted live events in collaboration with notable partners such as Kenyan Originals, Enjoy Cafe, The Imaara Mall, and The French Embassy. Between June and September 2024, we produced Maina Munene’s A Child of the Mau Mau comedy tour, which made stops in Nakuru, Lamu, and Kisumu. As part of this tour, we also hosted clinics and workshops for emerging comedians—many of whom performed stand-up for the very first time.
We’re also proud producers of the Bad Jokes series, currently available on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Two additional scripted shows are currently in production.
To commemorate our first anniversary, we’ve unveiled our first-ever batch of CULTURE merchandise, including t-shirts, tote bags, bracelets, bucket hats, and fridge magnets. The merch is available for purchase via our Instagram page: @ComedyCultureKe.
Here’s to more laughter, growth, and unforgettable moments—happy anniversary to us!
