Maina Murumba will be on the bill this Saturday 8th March at the Nairobi Laugh Bar for his headliner showcase, Casino Monkey. The show, which has been in the works for some time, will see the veteran comedian perform roughly an hour of material on stage. But who else is on the lineup?
As revealed by Standup Collective on 17th February, Shazz Nderitu will be making her first comedic appearance of the year as the host of the show. Shazz was last on stage in October 2024 when she hosted Rayhab Kihuha’s concept showcase, Baby Steps. Her timely reappearance should be welcome news to comedy lovers.
George Waweru, the co-writer of YouTube series, A Very Kenyan Sketch Show and one of the stars of celebrity roast series, The Hot Seat currently airing on Showmax will also star on the night. George’s participation was announced on 19th February.
The star-studded lineup will be completed by Ciku Waithaka, who will be starring in her second major show at the Laugh Bar this year after hosting Emmanuel Kisiangani’s Crowdwork Experience in January.
This diverse cast makes Casino Monkey one of the more balanced showcases that have taken place in recent times. That it falls on the same day as International Women’s Day makes it even more incredible.
Advance tickets to the show are still available to purchase via the Standup Collective website.
