Comedian Kinuthia S.K. has announced an hour-long one-man show on May 10, in celebration of Mother’s Day.
Entitled My Kenyan Mum, the show will be a mix of storytelling and stand-up comedy.
Through the exploit, Kinuthia will join a long list of Comedians who have staged solo outings in recent times.
The one-man format of stand-up has been gaining popularity amongst the new crop of Kenyan comedians. In the last six months alone, at least five comedians have done solo shows, with many more expected to make similar announcements this year.
Kinuthia has enjoyed relative success since breaking into the stand-up comedy scene in 2023 when he delivered an electrifying performance at the Nairobi Street Kitchen in a show dubbed Sets In The Streets that was put together by Punchline Comedy Club Nairobi.
Away from the stand-up stage, the funnyman and MC, through his storytelling outfit – Sage Storytelling Africa- held two successful storytelling sessions last year that focused on two revolutionary Kenyan musicians – Joseph Kamaru and Eric Wainaina.
This latest announcement is a testament to his growth and standing in the ever-growing comedy scene.
Venue and ticketing details for My Kenyan Mom are yet to be revealed.
