Bashir Halaiki To Make Long-awaited International Debut

Bashir Halaiki is set to make his international stand-up debut on December 20 in Arusha, Tanzania.

The funnyman has been booked by Comedy 255, a comedy outfit based in Arusha for a two-night performance.

It’s a well-earned nod for the co-host of the Kisiangani podcast who has been in the comedy scene for a little more than five years now.

Bashir is enjoying his most successful year as a comedian yet. He has featured heavily in the soon-to-start-airing Showmax celebrity roast show, Hot Seat, making appearances in all recorded episodes so far.

Away from his roasting duties, Halaiki has been a regular fixture at the Nairobi Laugh Bar since the year began, with a couple of headlining performances under his belt. His latest outing at the Laugh Bar was a roast battle between him and David Macharia, which he won in spectacular fashion.

He is scheduled to perform in Voi on December 14 alongside Emmanuel Kisiangani, David Macharia, George Waweru and Amandeep Jagde.

Despite his successes, the aeronautical engineer-cum-comedian hasn’t avoided the occasional controversy, recently almost getting into a fistfight with Eric Omondi during the taping of an episode of Hot Seat where Eric was the roastee.

The incident happened when Omondi deliberately threw water at Bashir when he took to the podium for the roast-back segment. The situation was quickly de-escalated by fellow panelists.
