What’s better than a sold-out comedy night at the famous Louis Leakey Auditorium? Two sold-out comedy nights at Nairobi’s first full-time physical comedy club; that’s the answer Adan Abdi would give you.
Adan proved once again why he’s one of the hottest comedy prospects and arguably the most sought-after stand-up comedian in Nairobi after selling out not one, but two nights at the Nairobi Laugh Bar on the 18th and 19th of this month, becoming the first Kenyan comedian to achieve that feat in the process.
Coming off the backdrop of a packed auditorium on August 31st for his one-man show, Self-Aware-ish made the undertaking even more special.
Both nights exceeded audience expectations as Adan, as well as her opener, Russian-Ukrainian Gaya Marina Garbaruk, who also did her first one-man show on the 26th, brought the heat.
“I was at the Museum show and I absolutely loved it. When Adan announced this show, I told myself I had to be there. I brought a couple of friends too and they loved it!” Said one audience member after the show on the 19th.
Adan’s immediate plan is to take his show, Self-Aware-ish on the road, first in Kenya, and then internationally before the year ends.
Things can only get better for the comedian, as he continues to break barriers and inspire others.
