Adan Abdi Is Self Aware-ish

After the success of his debut one-man show, “But Seriously Though,” in November last year, award-winning comedian Adan Abdi is back with a new show that promises to be even more engaging and hilarious. Titled “Self Aware-ish,” this highly anticipated performance is set to take place at the Louise Leakey Auditorium in Nairobi on August 31st.

Abdi has quickly become a crowd favourite with his perspective and quick wit as can be seen on some of his viral crow work clips, some have even compared his comedic style to that of Matt Rife. His first show, “But Seriously Though,” has a successful run with two sold out shows, one at the Alliance Francaise Nairobi and one at Nyali Cinemax in Mombasa.

“Self Aware-ish” is a coming of age comedy show that explores the realities of a 27 year old Somali living in Nairobi, as Abdi explores themes of identity, self-perception, and the often absurd realities of the modern world. The show is expected to reflect Abdi’s growth as a comedian, offering new perspectives and, of course, plenty of laughs.

The Louise Leakey Auditorium is growing to become one of Nairobi’s favorite theatre for comedians having hosted previous comedy shows like Ty Ngachira’s Being Kenyan special recording, Mammito and Friends, Distant Relatives Comedy Festival, Comedy Riot and most famously Dave Chappelle Live in Nairobi.

As Adan Abdi continues to grow into a Pan-African comedian fresh from his Ugandan tour, “Self Aware-ish” is set to be another milestone in his already impressive career. Whether you were captivated by his previous show or are just discovering his work, this is a comedy event you won’t want to miss. Mark your calendars for August 31st and get ready for a night of laughter and self-reflection, with a healthy dose of humor.
