“It was quite fun. Totally exceeded my expectations” One audience member quipped at the end of what can only be described as a successful taping of the first episode of the newest Roast Comedy Show that is set to air on Showmax.
The show, called The Hot Seat, which is being executive produced by media heavyweight Eugene Mbugua, follows the same format as a similar Roast Show; Roast House that aired on Showmax in 2021, albeit with little adjustments.
On the hot seat was popular and controversial content maker, Kabi Wa Jesus who was accompanied by his wife, Millie Wa Jesus.
After a brief warm-up session, the roast immediately began with veteran host, Emmanuel Kisiangani, who also served as Roast Master for Roast House, doing what he does best.
6 roasters then followed, none of them pulling their punches as they directed attack after attack at Kabi Wa Jesus, his wife catching occasional strays. Kabi took all the fire with grace though and when his chance for clapping back came, he did not hold back. Some audience members even argued that his set might have been the best of the night.
