Popular stand-up Comedian and satirist Rigathi… Sorry, Maina Munene will be embarking on his first-ever nationwide-ish stand-up comedy tour. Great news, innit? Well, you haven’t even heard (or read) the half of it.
The tour, dubbed, A Child of the Mau will see the comedian hit three cities, namely Nakuru, Lamu (is that a city?) and Mombasa. On the tour’s subject matter, Maina Munene will dive into the struggles of trying to navigate the modern world as a child of descendants of Kenya’s pre-independence freedom fighters, the Mau Mau.
The first stop of the tour will be at the Nakuru Players Theatre in… you guessed it! Nakuru, on June 1st, which will coincide with Madaraka Day, a Kenyan public holiday that commemorates the day in 1963 when Kenya attained internal self-rule after being a colony of the Brits since 1920; yep! I know my history.
Munene will then hit Lamu (Not a City, just confirmed) on July, 13th before completing the tour in Mombasa (Definitely a city) on August, 9th.
The tour is being supported by the French Government, in collaboration with Alliance Française, Nairobi, Casik Kenya and Heva Fund through the Hii Stage performance tour grant.
If you are a resident of the aforementioned two.. and a half cities and want to be a part of this historical tour, you can book a seat by RSVPing (is that a word?) at mainamunene.hustlesasa.shop.
See you on the road!
