Traveling comedians, KG Mokgadi and Chris Mapane from South Africa as well as Tanzanians Evans Bukuku and Dogo Pepe all performed at the Winedown Wednesday open mic on Wednesday the 1st of May.

The open mic was meant to get them in rhythm for the Festival and also give them a chance to feel out the local audience.

The comedians, who had flown in from their respective countries on the same day did not disappoint as they gave audiences a taste of what to expect on the nights of the the 4th and 5th of May.

KG Mokgadi was the first of the bunch to take the stage and he once again proved why he is among the best in Africa. Then came Evans Bukuku who was arguably the most relatable comedian to the Kenyan audience.

Despite doing most of his set in Swahili, Dogo Pepe was the stand-out performer of the night as his jabs at white people and song parodies left audiences in stitches.

Chris Mapane, who has multiple times been voted as the best comedy host in South Africa closed out the show in style.

The four comedians will also be doing spots at the Wasp and Sprout Restaurant on Thursday as they get ready for the extravaganza.
