2nd Comedy Club In Uganda Set To Open On January 30

Less than a year after the first full-time comedy club – Laughing Marabou Stork – was launched in Kampala, Uganda, the country’s comedy lovers are poised for another pleasant surprise – a second comedy room.

The Banter Comedy Club, a product of a collaborative effort between comedians Elly Odoki and Just Conrad, will have its grand opening on January 30.

Located in the outskirts of Kampala, in a suburb called Kira that is next to Najjera, the comedy room will be looking to capitalise on a youthful audience who make up a large portion of the area’s population.

“The club will cater to both English-speaking audiences and Luganda-speaking audiences,” said co-founder Elly Odoki while speaking to Comedy Culture.

“Travelling comedians from other African countries and beyond will also be welcome to perform at the venue.”

The launch comes at a time when the East African comedy market is beginning to gain regional attention and will see several top Ugandan comedians grace the stage.
